THE ABOVE FACTORS WERE USED FOR SEEDING THE "A" SIDE EVENT
ENTRY FEE IS $20 AND MUST BE PAID BEFORE YOU TEE OFF ON MATCH DAY...PAY AT THE PRO SHOP
PLAY IS FROM THE BLUE TEE BOX
THURSDAY MEN'S NIGHT
There
is a 9 hole and 18 hole tournament each Thursday afternoon. Tee times
for the 18 hole
event are between 12 noon and 3:00 PM. Tee times for the nine hole
event are between 12 noon and 4:30 PM. Players of the 18 hole event who
start after 2:00 PM are required to submit their
9 hole results prior to playing the back nine. Eighteen hole scores
will not be accepted after 7:30 PM except under unusual circumstances
caused by a backup of players.
Cost for the
9 hole event will be $10. The 18 hole event will cost an additional $5.
The total
payout for each Thursday’s competition will be higher than past years which
will result in somewhat less revenue for the windup. 85% of the entry fees of
the 18 hole event will be paid out each night in winnings and an estimated 85%
will be paid out from the nine hole event fees. The remaining money will be used
for incidental club costs and Men’s Night Windup prizes.
An RCGA
handicap is required to play in either the 18 hole or 9 hole events except that
participants without a valid RCGA handicap can play with a zero handicap
in the 9 hole event. The format of the 18 hole event requires a valid RCGA
handicap.
Front nine format
- Stroke play with three
flights, currently 0-14, 15-18 and 19 and up; prizes of $20 gift certificates for low gross and low net
for each flight.
- If there are 35 or
more players playing a full 18 holes then an additional $15 gift certificates will be
paid for second low gross and second low net in each flight of the nine hole game. The criteria of 35 or more players could be
dropped if the turn out each week is sufficient to occasionally
subsidize second place winnings when there are less than 35 players.
- There will be a deuce pot, double deuce pot and eagle pot on the front
nine. The pots will be financed by $2 to the deuce pot and
$1 to the double deuce and eagle pots for a total of
$4 of the $10 front nine entry fee. Payout is in cash.
Eighteen hole format
- The 18 hole event
will consist of “blind partners”, total low net score will count. Teams
will be chosen strictly by random from those competitors signed up for the
18 hole event in a manner “visible to all”. If an odd number of competitors is signed
up, then a ghost partner’s score will be selected from all the competitors
to calculate the total net score. If the team with a ghost score is a
winner, the ghost is not paid and the excess cash will be carried over the windup event.
- Lowest total low
net, second low net and third low net team scores will receive cash prizes
based on 40%, 25% and 20% of the total 18 hole competition entrance fees
respectively.

on the members web site on this page and will be submitted for publication in a
local newspaper.
It is not necessary to
be present for the announcement of the results to collect cash or gift
certificates. Prizes, cash and gift
certificates not collected on the evening of the competition can be obtained
later in the week from the golf shop. However, some of the hole prizes may not
be suitable to be left in the golf shop (such as pies, flowers and other perishables);
if no one claims those prizes on behalf of the winner, it will be awarded by some
sort of draw or lottery to a person present.
MATCH
PLAY
The Men’s Match Play
Tournament has changed for this year. It will consist of a double knock out
event with the winner of the “A” side winning the low gross and the winner of
the “B” side winning the low net. Cost of entering the Match Play Competition
is $20 which will be used for purchasing the winners prizes/trophies. Dan Moran
will head up organization of the event and he can be contacted at:
or telephone: 250-497-8234.
All competitors will
enter the “A” side and be seeded (the lowest handicap will play the highest
handicap etc.) No handicaps will be used in playing “A” side events. The looser
of an “A” side event will then enter the “B” side competition where full
handicaps on the day of the competition will be in effect. The “B” side will
not be seeded. The eventual winner of the “A” side will be the Match Play Gross
Champion and the winner of the “B” side will be the Match Play Net Champion.
A sign up sheet for the
competition will be posted on the bulletin board at the beginning of the year
and the pairings will be posted at a later date as will dates for the
completion of each round. Completion dates will be strictly enforced. There will
be plenty of time for two players to complete their match before the deadline.
However, if a pairing is unable to complete their match before the deadline,
the pairing must decide a “winner” hopefully by at least attempting a “putt
off” or some similar method before “flipping a coin”.
MEN’S
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
The men’s club
championship will be held on the weekend of August 28th and August 29th. A sign up sheet will be posted during the year. The
deadline to enter is August 19th on which date the players
handicap will be frozen for purposes of the competition. Players will be seeded
according to handicaps for the first round and tee times will be posted by August
26th. The second day of competition will be seeded according to the
low gross of the previous day’s competition and tee times will be allocated so
that the best players from the first day of competition will play last on the
second day.
WINDUP
The Men’s
Club Windup tournament will be held on October 14. The format and fees have not
yet been formulated but will consist of a shotgun start and likely a team competition.
Each time a player
participates in a Thursday men’s night event (including the windup), he will
have his name entered into the draw of prizes for the windup. A person must
attend the windup in order to qualify for the prize draw. Prizes will be selected
and drawn for by most valuable first. The prize table will have less variation
in value from most to least expensive than in past years without the emphasis
on very expensive prizes. The purchase of prizes will give priority to sponsors
and local businesses.
All names will be
re-entered into the final prize draw for a second chance of winning in order to
encourage participants to remain for the entire evening. Again, you must be
present to win.
Trophies for the club champions, match
play champions and most improved will be given out. The most improved player trophy will be
resurrected this year. The BCGA method of calculation will be used
for members that have an RCGA handicap on May 1, 2010 and will be
calculated using the handicap used for the Men’s Club Championship in
September.
