We would be happy to explain the tournaments or social events held on behalf of the members throughout the year. Every member of the course is welcome to attend the tournaments and socials. Announcement by Greg Pidlaski

Changes to Local Rules

I think we can all agree ,we want to enjoy this great game with an adherence to the “ Rules of Golf “. With that in mind, several changes are being made to the local rules on the new scorecard which is now in production.

v  Stones in bunkers will now be declared moveable obstructions and may be removed. This allows you to carefully remove a stone or rock (only) that might be near your ball.

v  Large sand bunker on # 16 is a waste bunker ( you may ground your club and remove loose impediments: which you cannot in a regular  bunker )

v  Large boulders on # 16 are declared immoveable obstructions, you may take relief; one club length not nearer the hole but only with interference from stance and area of intended swing.

v  The green staked areas indicate an environmentally sensitive area, you play the ball as it lies, relief is not permitted and please do not drive power carts within these areas.

v  The local rule concerning balls rolling backwards on # 12 (old # 3) and dropping from furthest point of advancement is being eliminated. This is an unusual situation and bad bounces can only be referred to as  “rub of the green “

v  Holes made from burrowing animal holes (marmots), relief is permitted. No longer will the broad term of marmot habitat apply, it’s only the hole made by the marmot which you are entitled to relief from and only if your stance or area of intended swing is affected by that hole.

I am available to discuss these local rules as well as any other points concerning playing the game of golf. Enjoy your golf at Twin Lakes!

May 10, 2010

There are no longer colored flags being used to show whether the pin placement is front, center or back. The superintendent informed me that the placements are rotated in order throughout the course from front to center to back on each hole. If the pin is in the center on a green, the next hole will have a back pin placement and the following hole a front placement etc.

May 10, 2010

With the partial change of the back nine to the front nine, the hole handicaps have changed. The front nine are still odd handicap holes and the back nine are the even handicap holes. Be sure to double check your card when applying strokes to events requiring adjusting gross scores for each hole.

For example the men's most difficult hole is now #7 (old #16) and the easiest hole is #15 (old #6)

Some of the Ladies Red tee handicaps have changed more dramatically. New hole # 7 (former hole # 16) has changed from the 18th easiest hole to the 7th.

May 10, 2010

Men's and Senior Men's weekly results are being posted on their respective pages in addition to the Tuesday draw for the Senior Men each week (on Saturdays?). Women's club and Monday Night Ladies results will be posted if requested.

The Men's Club Committee would like to thank those members that responded to the announcement of  changing Men's Night from Thursday to Wednesday.  In view of some of the opposition put forward, the Committee feels that more input should have been received from the membership prior to making a major change to the traditional men's night.

The Committee wishes to act in the best interest of the members and  therefore has decided that this change will not go ahead. The first Men's Night will be on Thursday, May 6th.

The format outlined in previous e-mails including the four to five week trial period of a 4:30 PM shotgun start for the nine hole event will be initiated.

April 23, 2010

The new cart path around the back of the number 1 green to  connect the number 10 green with the new eleventh tee box has been completed. New paving has been done in the parking lot area to create a path from the new 18th hole back to the cart drop off area.
Work has begun on the new practice putting green above the #1 Gold tee box.

April 16, 2010

2- Deuce pot and closest to the pin

3 - Longest drive Handicap 0-11

4 - Longest drive Handicap 12 and up

6 - Closest to centre of fairway

7 - KP second shot Handicap 0-11

8 - Longest putt

April 16, 2010

MONDAY NIGHT LADIES will start on Monday, May 3rd.

April 15, 2010

The upper old number 2 green is again in bad shape and will be torn up and re-done to prevent the problem each year. It is not expected to be in use until July or after during which time the lower green will be used. New cart paths are now under construction to accommodate the change in front and back nines.

April 15, 2010

The course is now scheduled to open April 28th.

April 15, 2010

Further information provided by Rae Langille in conversation with Greg Pidlaski:
1. Senior day tee times will begin at 9:00 AM as agreed to by most seniors last season, albeit when we thought there would be a shotgun start.
2. Tee times and foursomes will be emailed by the draw "committee" (Rae Langille) to the pro shop on the weekend which will be entered into their computer so that participants can call for their tee time and foursome. The sheet will also be posted on the members board in the washroom. It is "hoped" that confirmation of tee times could be emailed to players who provide their email address to the pro shop.
3. The block of consecutive tee times will always be sufficient to accommodate all seniors signing up. The excess tee times will be freed up for green fee players after the draw has been made. This will mean that if you do not sign up by the time Rae picks up the sheet on the Friday you will not be able to play unless there is a cancellation.  The sign up sheet will be posted two weeks in advance (compared to one week previously) to accommodate as many people wishing to participate.

April 8, 2010

The rate schedule ( DUES AND FEES )for green fees has been modified by Twin Lakes.  They now show the price for 10 and 20 round passes, free golf for juniors 15 and under with a parent; nine hole prices are reduced by $5 and the time changed from after 4:00 PM to after 3:00 PM. Spring and Fall rates are now shown as $45.00 (previously call for rates).

April 8, 2010

The Twin Lakes Golf Resort Website has changed their general email address and it appears that the new manager, Greg Pidlaski will be receiving any messages. This is an important change since there have been numberous complaints that email messages to Twin Lakes have gone unanswered this past winter. Their new address is:

 twinlakesgolf.greg@nethop.net

April 7, 2010

I have been informed that the course will open April 27th.

April 6, 2010

Senior Men's captain, Rae Langille recently met with Greg Pidlaski and was informed of changes to the course layout as a result of issues with ICBC with carts in the parking lot. As a result there will be a bag drop area to drop your clubs before you park your car and to drop your bags after the round to eliminate the carts driving around the parking lot. This also means that carts cannot cross from hole # 9 to hole #10 resulting in the following changes to the course layout:

Front 9 Back 9
New  Former  New   Former
hole # hole # hole # hole #
1 1 10 10
2 11 11 2
3 12 12 3
4 13 13 4
5 14 14 5
6 15 15 6
7 16 16 7
8 17 17 8
9 18 18 9
